So, guess what? Snoop Dogg just turned the NFT world upside down and proved that the NFT industry isn't exactly dead, at least not yet. On Wednesday, he sold out nearly a million NFTs in just 30 minutes on Telegram. And I guess the skeptics will have to eat their words, because Snoop just made $12 million in the process.

These 996,000 NFTs, powered by the TON blockchain, were “inspired by Snoop’s iconic style.” Think vintage cars, swag bags, digital dogs, marijuana-themed items, and a mix of other symbols. You know, all the things that scream Snoop Dogg. And Telegram’s Pavel Durov couldn’t help but shout out the sales on X, saying, “Blockchain minting and the secondary market go live in 21 days. It’s going to be wild.”

But here’s the kicker: these tokens can be displayed as animated images on your Telegram profile or converted into the platform's in-app currency, called Stars.

Could Snoop’s NFT Drop Spark a Rally?

Snoop didn’t just drop NFTs; he dropped a beat, too. Along with the collection, he released a new track called “Gifts” and a music video that showcases all the shiny new collectibles. And guess what? Social media and YouTube were absolutely buzzing. People were calling this collaboration with Telegram "legendary," and some even saw the quick sellout as a bullish sign for NFTs, which have been struggling this year with declining volumes and sales.

Now, let's talk numbers for a second. NFT volumes took a nosedive, plunging 61% in Q1 2025 to $1.5 billion, compared to $4.1 billion last year. Sales have dropped another 41% in the last 30 days, with a 55% drop in transactions, according to CryptoSlam. So, yeah, NFTs have been kinda in a slump. But then, along comes Snoop Dogg to flip the script and make waves again. Could his collection spark an NFT rally? Well, I guess time will tell, but it’s certainly got people talking.

Zenith, the NFT lead at TON, noted that Telegram gifts aren’t exactly new; they’ve been around since at least January with collections like “Plush Pepe.” But they also said the reaction to Snoop’s collection could be the start of a new NFT narrative. “Technically, it might not mean anything,” Zenith said. But who doesn't love a little speculation?

One thing’s for sure: Telegram Gifts have unique utility, allowing you to rock them on your Telegram profile. And I wouldn't be surprised if other brands or Web3 projects start launching their own gifts. Will they? I don’t know, but the idea's fun to think about.

Snoop Dogg, of course, is no stranger to the NFT scene. He’s been in it since the early days, back in 2021, when NFTs went mainstream. In June 2023, he dropped the Snoop Dogg Passport Series, which gave holders access to exclusive behind-the-scenes content. And let’s not forget his Doggies NFT collection from his 2022 partnership with The Sandbox metaverse. If anyone knows how to keep the NFT game alive, it’s Snoop.

So, what’s next for Snoop’s NFT empire? I’m just here for the ride. Keep your eyes peeled, because something tells me he’s got more tricks up his sleeve.
