Self-dubbed “Crypto President,” Donald Trump has made crypto a significant part of his campaign. Even after winning the election, he is still going full throttle on crypto, proving not just his acceptance of crypto but also his loyalty to all his crypto supporters. His latest show of support for crypto will impress the crypto community.
President-elect Donald Trump has made it known that he still stands behind crypto, not with words this time, but with his pickings for members of the cabinet. His list includes a wide range of different people, from Republican politicians like him to lawyers and business leaders. While many of them are still awaiting Senate approval, they have one thing in common: they have either held crypto directly or indirectly and are crypto fans.
We have compiled a list of key members of the Trump administration who have dipped their toes in the crypto water.
J.D Vance (Vice President)
A president is only as good as a vice president who shares the same ideals with him, right? Well, federal disclosure forms have shown that J.D. Vance holds between $250,000 and $500,000 worth of Bitcoin.
J.D. Vance has been actively pro-crypto, and this report shows that he puts his money where his mouth is.
Robert F. Kennedy (Secretary, Department of Health and Human Services)
While there are no public disclosure forms for RFK since he is not a sitting congressman, he has publicly admitted to owning Bitcoin.
At a public event in November, an X video shows him saying, “I went home and put most of my wealth into Bitcoin, so I'm fully committed.” So, it seems he is fully committed indeed.
Micheal Waltz (National Security Adviser)
The Republican U.S. Representative for Florida's 6th congressional district has also been known notoriously as pro-crypto.
Financial disclosures to the U.S. Congress in 2023 prove that he held between $50,000 and $100,000 worth of Bitcoin.
Tulsi Gabbard (National Intelligence Director)
The former U.S. Democratic Representative has reportedly invested in at least two cryptocurrencies. Her 2017 public disclosure form showed that she had between $1,000 and $15,000 of Litecoin and Ethereum tokens each. Her last disclosure, however, in 2019, indicates that she no longer holds crypto.
Elon Musk (Co-Leader, Department Of Government Efficiency)
Although technically not a cabinet member, Elon Musk is vital to the Trump administration, and anyone who knows him knows he is as pro-crypto as it gets ever since his stint with Dogecoin.
According to data from Arkham Intelligence, his company, Tesla, holds 11,509 Bitcoin, worth more than $1 billion as of the time of writing. In an X Spaces talk earlier this year, he said, “I still own a bunch of Dogecoin, and SpaceX owns a bunch of Bitcoin. "
Vivek Ramaswamy (Co-Leader, Department Of Government Efficiency)
Ramaswamy also has a record for being pro-crypto.
During his 2023 presidential campaign, he mentioned that he would be accepting crypto donations. He is also believed to hold crypto, although his crypto holdings are not public as he is a private citizen.
