The sphere, a Las Vegas-based entertainment amphithreatre, holds 18.6K+ people and features a giant display panel wrapped around its dome. If you’ve watched Stephen King’s Under the Dome where a town, Chester’s Mill is trapped inside an invisible dome – the sphere is one of those but without the traumatic events of King’s creations. As per reports, running an ad on the Sphere costs up to $450,000 per day.
The project’s team published a donation page dubbed “We’re Putting a Hat on the Sphere” on Sunday. As of this writing, the page accepting payments in USDC stablecoins indicates they have already received $304,408.161.
Onchain data indicates contributors have donated from as little as $1 to as much as $9,999. A John Doe certainly felt the urge to be part of a remarkable story by donating something to put a dog on the Sphere.

If anything, the Las Vegas Sphere is the shape of the moon and it might denote launching a memecoin to space. Just if we don’t want to be on the wrong side of SEC for landing their funds safely on the Sphere instead of the moon. But SafeMoon creator Kyle Nagy will tell you it’s no longer safe to use the word moon in a sentence.
A part of the developer community also began floating around a ‘Sphere Wif Hat’ token which just in case it pumps could help meet the donation goal of $650,000.
News of the Dogwifhat’s move divided users on X into two camps; those who believe displaying a memecoin on the Sphere is only the start of the bull cycle and happens to be one of the frozy behaviours of crypto millionaires. On the other hand, the second camp believes the move is only an advertisement that would further popularize WIF.
The Solana-based meme coin surged by more than 50% after its Binance Listing on March 5th, 2024. During press time, Dogwifhat is currently trading for $2.12 which represents an 1156% pump year-to-date.

As per CoinMarketCap data, the dog-themed token is already at position #65 among the largest cryptocurrencies with a market capitalization of $2.1 billion. The meme coin has achieved this fit in only 3 -months of launch.
