We’ve seen crypto adopt many different things into the ecosystem, from celebrity meme coins to Political figures having tokens modeled after their image. We’ve also seen a rise in what we can call “crypto animals” from Moo Deng, the cute pygmy hippo, to Peanut, the squirrel. While it shocked the world to hear that the government later euthanized the internet sensation squirrel, it shocked his owner more, and now he has claimed to take action.

It’s been less than a month since Peanut the squirrel and Fred the raccoon became internet sensations for their furry friendliness. It is quite unfortunate that their stories have been cut short by government intervention

Mark Longo, the owner of the two pets, did not take the incident easily. In reaction to the developments, Longo has decided to launch a new token on Solana called Justice for Pnut and Fred (JUSTICE) to honor the memory of his pets and get justice for them.

Speaking in an X post, Longo claims that "the government's not going to get away with this" and that "Justice will be served… We will show the world that it's not okay to overstep boundaries."

However, the US government is not the only one Longo is displeased with. The pet owner also accused the crypto community of making profits from his loss and trauma. He claims, "The crypto world has taken my tragedy and has profited every which way possible," calling people who want to make money off his tragedy “despicable”.

Longo then announced that he would be launching the new token, which he “will be affiliated with forever.” The members of the PNUT community, however, did not keep silent on Longo’s accusations.

According to the PNUT community, they have made approximately $50,000 in donations to Longo and claimed that he immediately sold their donations. While Longo has yet to respond to their comments, his newly launched JUSTICE token is doing well.

According to data from Solscan, the token already has more than $53 million in market capitalization and more than 14,000 holders at the time of this writing.

The Peanut debacle has caught the attention of the wider internet, even reaching important figures. Vice President-elect JD Vance already stated that Donald Trump was “fired up” about the euthanization of the man’s pets, calling the government’s intervention "government overreach."

Elon Musk, another key figure in the incoming Trump administration, described the situation as “messed up” and then posted several other tweets about P’Nut. Others, such as Chanpeng Zeng, CEO of Binance, believe the entire situation is a bit absurd and called for building “real applications using blockchains.”

Many netizens are now focusing on Longo himself, waiting to see what actions he will take against the US government he claims has inflicted him with trauma from losing his pets, as well as to see the performance of his new token.
