Wilder World is stepping up its game with a bang by adding a high-intensity shooter mode to "super early access" at Gamescom on Wednesday. This Ethereum-based project wants to make a huge metaverse of gaming experiences, and this new shooter mode is just the start. Last year, it made a big deal out of the racing game Wilder Wheels, which it made with Lamborghini. Now, things are getting more serious.

You can get the game, which is a free-for-all deathmatch for 10 players, from the Epic Games Store. It combines first- and third-person views. Players fight for points in a piece of Wiami, which is an almost exact 1:1 recreation of Miami that will eventually be the basis for Wilder World's open-world metaverse. Matches last 10 minutes. People who go to Gamescom get something extra: Samsung-branded NFTs that they can play. That's pretty cool, right?

A $100K Tournament and the Race to the Final

To really get things buzzing, Wilder World is hosting a $100,000 tournament with qualifiers from August 25 to September 9. The top five players will head to the in-person finals on September 24, where they’ll compete for the big prize. And get this, they'll even get flown out, all expenses paid. Not a bad deal for a few minutes of fragging, if you ask me!

Wilder World’s Metaverse Dream

This shooter is just the second mode in Wilder World’s ambitious metaverse plan, which won’t fully roll out until early 2026. According to pseudonymous co-founder and Executive Producer n3o, the full game will feature everything from racing and combat to resource mining and art galleries, all within a living, player-driven economy. The game’s goal? To have every mode and experience coexist and complement each other within a sprawling digital city.

WILD Token and the Road Ahead

Wilder World’s native token, WILD, was launched in 2021 and had a high of $7.44 six months later, raising over $30 million to fund development. Although WILD has seen a 37% increase in the past month, it’s still down about 95% from its peak, hovering around $0.40. But I’m betting this new game mode might give it the kick it needs.

As n3o puts it, Wilder World is "the world’s first truly living digital city," where you can race, fight, build, trade, attend concerts, or even launch your own brand. With the open-world release targeting early 2026, this is just the start of a much bigger vision.
