Outplay Entertainment just made a bold move, slashing its workforce by 15%, letting go of 21 employees. And with only 135 people on the payroll, that’s a pretty big chunk of their team.

CEO Douglas Hare told that the layoffs were necessary to "align operations with current business realities" and to pivot towards partnering with publishers for future game releases. Apparently, this decision wasn’t made lightly, but it had to happen.

Outplay Entertainment's Hit Games and Social Media Silence

While Hare confirmed that the studio is providing support for those affected, he didn’t dish out specifics on which departments took the hardest hits. The cuts are spread across the company, but the details remain vague.

Outplay Entertainment is no stranger to hit games like Angry Birds Pop!, Subway Surfers Blast, and Gordon Ramsay’s Chef Blast. The latter even scored an impressive 4.8 stars on Google Play with over a million downloads. But here's the thing: most of their most popular titles have been collaborations with other studios.

And while the studio’s games are beloved, their social media presence could use a little love. Their last posts on X and Facebook date back to November last year. Located in Scotland, Outplay Entertainment is clearly going through some growing pains, but they’re pushing ahead with a new strategy. Let’s see what the future holds!
