AI is no longer just a buzzword in Web3; it’s making some serious moves! According to DappRadar, the number of AI-powered decentralized applications (DApps) and their active users has been growing steadily this year. In May alone, these AI DApps saw a 23% jump, with 4.8 million daily unique active wallets. Talk about a strong entrance!

"AI decentralized apps are challenging gaming and DeFi for dominance in the DApp ecosystem," said DappRadar analyst Sara Gherghelas in a June 5 report.

It’s clear AI-powered DApps are not just some fleeting trend; they're here to stay and are quickly becoming a major player in decentralized tech.

Top AI DApps and the Rise of SubHub

For years, decentralized finance (DeFi) and blockchain-based gaming have reigned as the heavy hitters in DApps, but now AI is throwing its hat in the ring. These AI DApps are more than just hype, they’re a reflection of the broader societal shift toward open, user-owned technologies.

One of the standout AI DApps in May was LOL, which boasted 2 million daily active wallets. It uses an AI bot to analyze laughter and rewards users with tokens based on how happy they seem. Yes, you read that right, your giggles are now worth something in the world of Web3!

There’s also SubHub, a newcomer that made waves with 82,000 daily active wallets in May. SubHub is an AI-enhanced Web3 platform that helps users with notifications and marketing, blending smart messaging and wallet-based targeting. Gherghelas notes that this trend highlights how AI and social DApps are merging in the Web3 space.

It’s not just startups that are jumping on the AI train. Big names are making moves too. ThinkAgents.ai introduced an open-source "Think Agent Standard" protocol for deploying autonomous agents across decentralized networks, and Tether, the stablecoin giant, is diving into the AI space with plans for a decentralized platform blending P2P communication and crypto transactions.

But the public is catching on, too. A recent Harris Poll found that 77% of Americans believe decentralized AI is more beneficial than centralized models, and 56% would rather see AI developed in decentralized systems. It’s clear, decentralization is the future, and AI is just another piece of the puzzle.
