Look out, Gaming and DeFi, AI-powered decentralized apps (DApps) are coming for your crown! According to blockchain analytics platform DappRadar, AI DApps are rapidly gaining ground and could soon challenge the current top players in the DApp ecosystem.
In April, both the Gaming and DeFi sectors held steady at 21% dominance in unique active wallets. In the meantime, AI DApps surged to 16%, a massive hike from February's 11%. Watch out, world?
AI DApps on the Rise
With the interest in AI tools still increasing across industries, AI DApps are finding their footing in the decentralized space.
"AI-powered DApps are steadily carving out their place," says DappRadar analyst Sara Gherghelas. “If this trend continues, AI could soon challenge the traditional dominance of DeFi and Gaming, signaling a whole new era in the DApp landscape.”
April saw AI DApp activity soar by 26%, reaching 3.8 million daily unique active wallets (dUAW), compared to 2.6 million in February. Meanwhile, DeFi activity took a hit, dropping 16% to 4.8 million dUAW, matching Gaming, which also saw a 10% decline.

The Top AI DApps Leading the Charge
It’s no surprise that the top AI DApps are holding steady. According to DappRadar, the current leaders are all heavily invested in AI agent infrastructure and utility. Leading the pack is LOL, a project that uses AI to create a mining system based on, you guessed it, laughter. Users send voice recordings of their laughs to Telegram groups, and the LOL AI bot measures pitch and frequency to reward them with LOL tokens. Talk about a laughable new economy!
Following closely behind is Dmail Network, an AI-powered decentralized messaging service. Rounding out the top three is World.Fun, a launchpad that lets users deploy AI agents into multi-agent simulations.
Gherghelas notes, "These projects are not just riding the hype; they’re actually building utility."
Crypto insiders are forecasting that AI will transform Web3 by 2025, particularly in applications like crypto staking and on-chain trading. It's not all cloud nine, though—AI DApps could face technical challenges, regulatory hurdles, and centralization concerns. Still, the potential is real, and the space is heating up.
Social DApps Also Making Waves
It’s not just AI that’s getting attention; Social DApps are on the rise, too. With an 18% jump in activity, they hit 3.6 million dUAW in April, pushing their market dominance to over 15%. Gherghelas sums it up, “Web3 is holding its ground,” despite wider market turbulence caused by sweeping US tariffs.
"Utility and narrative-driven hype—especially around memecoins and AI—are major drivers of user engagement," Gherghelas adds.
Looks like Web3’s got a lot of tricks up its sleeve. Who's ready for the next big thing?
