So… Elon Musk is at it again. And this time, he's not just launching rockets or pushing Dogecoin memes, he’s launching a political party. The freshly minted America Party has just been confirmed by Musk himself to accept Bitcoin.
When an X user asked if his party would embrace BTC, Elon shot back with a classic Musk-ism: “Fiat is hopeless, so yes.” Honestly, I think that line should be printed on a T-shirt.

Now, Tesla CEO Musk isn’t exactly new to the Bitcoin party. I mean, in early 2021, Tesla went full crypto mode and bought $1.5 billion worth of BTC under his leadership. That made Tesla one of the first major public companies to dive into Bitcoin treasury holdings.
As of now, Tesla still holds 11,509 BTC, which is worth around $1.26 billion. Not too shabby for an EV company! That makes Tesla the ninth-largest publicly traded firm with Bitcoin on its balance sheet, according to Bitbo.
And let’s not forget Musk’s long-time love-hate affair with crypto. He's been the ultimate Dogecoin hype man, sometimes sending DOGE to the moon, other times accidentally crashing it. Classic Elon.
Bitcoin, SpaceX, and Politics?
In my opinion, it was only a matter of time before Musk brought Bitcoin into politics. According to Samson Mow, founder of Jan3, embracing Bitcoin could actually give Musk a strategic edge over Trump, which is already shaping up to be quite the rivalry.
Mow even suggested that Tesla should bring back BTC payments and that SpaceX should offer Bitcoin discounts. I mean, imagine buying a rocket ride with sats. Feels like a future I’d sign up for.
Ironically, back in 2024, Musk wasn’t thrilled about using Bitcoin on Mars. Too slow, he said. But then he changed his mind (as he does), suggesting a localized Lightning Network could fix it. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t mind stacking sats on the Red Planet.
But let’s be fair, Musk hasn’t always been team Bitcoin. Back in 2021, he claimed Bitcoin was “too high” in price. The result? BTC tanked.
Trump vs. Musk
Now to the drama. Musk and Trump? Yeah, that bromance is officially over. Their fallout hit a new low after Trump proposed the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill”, which Musk called “utterly insane and destructive.” He didn’t hold back, saying the bill would kill jobs and cause “immense strategic harm” to the US. Yikes.

Let’s talk numbers: the bill is expected to bloat the national debt by $3.3 trillion over the next decade. Musk couldn’t help but point out the irony of Trump pushing DOGE (yes, that’s the actual acronym for Trump's debt plan) while racking up... even more debt.
What the heck was the point of @DOGE if he’s just going to increase the debt by $5 trillion??

Fed up with both parties, Musk hinted that America needs “a party that actually cares about the people.” That thought snowballed into a poll on X, and guess what? Over 1.24 million people voted, with nearly two-thirds in favor of Musk starting his own party.
By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!

When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy.
Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom. https://t.co/9K8AD04QQN
And so, the America Party was born.
Musk declared, “When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy.”
Trump? Oh, he’s not happy. He’s already lashed out, claiming Musk’s third-party stunt could fracture the Republican vote in the 2026 midterms. In my view, it’s starting to feel less like politics and more like a billionaire cage match.
